Product Switches I Wish I Made 10 Years Ago

Here are 3 switches that I made over the last 5 years that have not only made me feel healthier long-term but have had environmental benefits as well.

Buy aluminum-free deoderant.

Not only was I long overdue to switch from anti-perspirant to deoderant, which allows you to release toxins and regulate body temperature, but to be rid of the metal toxins that had been soaking into my skin for years. There have been possible links to this causing breast cancer, kidney stones, and alzheimer/dementia. With choices in almost every brand these days, you can select the one that is best for you.

Use zinc oxide sunscreen.

This not only offers the most protection from UVB and UVA rays, but it is also safe for the coral reef and sea life which other sunscreens have been proven to damage. I found the tinted one for my face actually helps to cover blemishes as well. It goes on thick and smooth to make me feel protected from not only the sun but other outdoor elements.

Substitute dairy alternatives.

  • Flavor with olive oil and ghee (not technically dairy free but lactose free) instead of butter
  • Choose goat cheeses over cow cheeses
  • Oat or soy milk in place of cream

This has reduced inflammation in my body and made digestion easier.

I would love to hear what other switches that you have made in the products that you buy. What has been proven to be an easy substitute that has improved your health or the health of our world?
