Two Easy Ways To Create A New Habit In The New Year

As we are stepping into the new year, many of us like to create new healthier habits and mindsets to usher in the desires of our heart. Below are 2 quick and easy practices that could help you today!

Build It Into Your Routine

When trying to introduce a new habit, it is often easier to build it into something you are already doing in the day. That way you not only do not need to create more time for it, but it already becomes part of your routine. Here are some examples that I have tried:

  • Goal: Read more books. Build into routine: I downloaded free audio books on the Libby library app and listened to them while driving in the car or walking my dog.
  • Goal: Lift weights. Build into routine: I unwind each day by watching TV. I keep my weights by the couch and lift them while watching a program. Once I started that, it was easy to add in an ab routine as well.
  • Goal: Meditate. Build into routine: I typically take a bath once a week. I downloaded the Insight Timer app on my phone. Now I can play a guided meditation or music while I am in the bath.

Try This Phrase

Write it on your mirror, a dry-erase board, a sticky note, your screensaver, or somewhere else that you can see it every day. I am easily finding myself… Fill in the blank with all the things that you desire to bring into your life. For example I might say, “I am easily finding myself making an extra $1000 a month.” Or “I am easily finding myself in playful, funny situations.” Whatever you desire, picture it easily flowing into your life. This will create a new mindset in you and you will become more aware of opportunities as they present themselves.
