The Walmart of Healing: An Interview with Soul Wellness Owner, Kristen Phillips

Many Americans love the convenience of going to Walmart to get food, clothing, medicine, toys, houseware, and more. How nice it is to have everything all in one place! Do you wish you could go to a one-stop shop for healing–a place with experts to help your whole mind, body, and spirit? You wouldn’t have to drive all over town to see each person AND you wouldn’t need to spend hours reading yelp reviews to find someone. Say you are exercising with your personal trainer when you slip and suffer a back injury. Why not go next door and have the chiropractor check you out and then pop on over to the massage therapist to work out your muscles before the drive home? Heck, go ahead and schedule an acupuncture appointment or maybe even counseling because it brought back memories of an old football injury.

I dreamed of a place like this, where practitioners of different modalities could come together to work on the whole person. I had been on the hunt for a holistic wellness center in the Charlotte area for a year and was losing hope. Then, out of the blue, Kristen contacted me. She found me on Instagram and wanted to share her idea for this new wellness center in Mooresville. Immediately, I knew that I had to go and see it.

And it is gorgeous! It has so much space and light and the practitioners have just been falling into place. All of them come from a collaborative mindset of working toward a common goal. So now I am excited to share with you a new oasis of healing in the Charlotte area. And if you think Mooresville is far, it is definitely worth making a day trip to to visit the consignment shops and restaurants nearby, or even head to the lake after your sessions.

Hi Kristen, thanks for taking time to share with us today.  I am so excited to learn more about Soul Wellness Center.  Could you begin by telling a little bit about your background and what inspired the vision of this place?

Having spent over 25 years in various Sales and Marketing positions, I have always known that I wanted to own my own business.  It has been a process figuring out exactly what that would be but all of my experiences both professional and personal have led to the creation of Soul Wellness.  Professionally, I spent about 10 years in the Pharmaceutical Industry where I became increasingly aware of the need for alternative means of healing to uncover what truly causes our ailments.  On the personal side, I have always been interested in and participated in holistic wellness.  Health and fitness are a huge part of my lifestyle.

Who are some of the practitioners and healing modalities offered at the center?  What are you the most excited about?

The most exciting part of Soul Wellness is seeing the diversity among providers who have chosen to practice there and knowing the synergy that they will have between them.  I am truly amazed by everyone that I have met through building this business and I know that Soul Wellness will be a great resource for the community.  At this point in time, some of the healing modalities include, massage therapy, family and marriage counseling, Rapid Transformational Therapy, Chiropractic care, acupuncture, and personal training.

You clearly believe in an integrated approach to mind, body, spirit health and wellness.  What has been your personal experience with wholistic health methods?  How have these healing modalities helped you?

I strongly believe in an integrated, holistic approach to wellness and that belief has developed over time out of my own curiosity.  Personally, whenever I hit a bump in the road through my life journey, I examine how I attracted the experience and what it is teaching me.  Holistic practitioners can help you uncover your limiting beliefs or blocks,  discover how energy contributes to your well-being and help you become more self-aware. These tools are priceless as they help you manifest your most authentic and happy life.

What kind of offerings do you have planned for the upcoming year?

The providers that have decided to practice at Soul Wellness have all talked about combining services for special promotional deals. Many providers outside of Soul Wellness will be holding events and classes there as well. These will be listed on the events page on the website, www.soulwellness.net.  Soul Wellness has 2 classrooms that are available 7 days a week and can be reserved on the website.

What is the best way for people to contact you to learn more or to schedule a session?

The website, www.soulwellness.net has a provider page with appropriate links so that sessions can be scheduled with individual practitioners.  Daily room rentals can be booked on the website as well.  There are 2 classrooms and 4 furnished suites that providers can reserve for a ½ or full day.  Anyone looking to rent an office suite on a monthly basis can contact me through email at kristen@soulwellness.net or 704-575-2192.  Anyone is welcome to come tour the center and meet some of the providers!  I’ll announce any events on Instagram @soulwellnessinc and Facebook @Soul Wellness.
